Schilling, Bewabon

Biography

Bewabon Schilling (b. 1977 Orillia, Ontario) trained at the Ontario College of Art and Design, graduating in 2001, the recipient of both the Norman Jewison Award and the Rose of Cedarvale Scholarship.   He has exhibited widely both in Europe and North America and is represented by the Roberts Gallery, Toronto.   Working mostly in oil on canvas, in a vibrant, semi-abstract manner, his current practice focuses on his environment and its inhabitants, the seasons and the natural world.

Bewabon Schilling is the eldest son of the renowned late Ojibway artist Arthur Shilling (1941-1986), whose expressionistic paintings reflected the struggles and triumphs of indigenous people.
